Vintage Radio was originally setup on the wirral in Birkenhead know as the Grown Up Choice in 2008 it originally based at the YMCA on Whetstone Lane a short walk from Tranmere Rovers Fc by Prenton Park on Borough Road.

The Original Presenters where For Fridays with Richard Wall with John Nolan Budge Grounsell and Graham Turner during the week on the Saturday was the Orignal Vault show every Saturday with Tony Costa and a mid week Wednesday show from its Chairman Roger Wright and Monday with Will Redfearn and not forgetting the Rock and Opera show with the late Lenny Burnett who was still broadcasting at the age of 96 and its original Rock Show was Hosted by Moria Leonard form Edinbugh Scotland Called All Things Rock

It was originally started up by a charity for the elderly for people in care homes. Birkenhead is the birthplace of Paul O’Grady and Dame Patricia Routledge Famous for the hit TV Show Keeping up Appearances for the role of Hyacinth Bucket.

Paul O’Grady was famous from the early 80s and 90s for his alter ego Lily Savage and for hosting many documentaries and his own tv talk show and former host of Blankety Blank but he was an award winning host for the tv show For The Love Of Dogs set filmed at Battersea Dogs and Cats by the former Battersea Power Station for which he adopted many dogs from the charity.

Birkenhead is also home to Cammell Laird Ship Yard where Freddie Starr worked there as a sheet metal worker it was the mainstay of shipbuilding on Merseyside
